Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed strong dissatisfaction with the poor cleanliness conditions, dust marks, and stains on tiles and counters during his inspection of the newly constructed emergency room at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).
The chief minister promptly summoned the contractor, officials from the C&W department, and the medical superintendent to provide an immediate explanation for the neglect in cleanliness arrangements. He highlighted the signs of negligence and expressed his dismay over the situation.
While inspecting the emergency room, the CM questioned why the cleanliness conditions were subpar and summoned the commissioner, instructing him to ensure immediate improvements in cleanliness arrangements. The chief minister emphasized that the poor cleanliness in the new emergency room was completely unacceptable.
During the inspection, Chief Minister Naqvi noticed a patient in a wheelchair and took the initiative to lift a fallen file from the floor and place it back on the wheelchair. The patient expressed gratitude to the CM for his kind gesture. Additionally, the chief minister addressed a patient complaint from Gujrat regarding delayed scheduling for angiography. Recognizing the urgency, he ordered the medical superintendent to expedite the angiography procedure. The health secretary and other officials were present during this exchange.
Continuing his efforts to improve healthcare facilities, Chief Minister Naqvi conducted an inspection of the upgrade of the emergency block at Mayo Hospital. During the inspection, he directed the installation of appropriately sized signboards for the convenience of patients and their attendants. Stressing the importance of timely completion and high-quality work, the CM instructed that the finishing touches be completed expeditiously. The principal of KEMU (King Edward Medical University) was also present during this inspection.
In a separate development, Chief Minister Naqvi has taken a strong stance against the illegal production and sale of non-standard LPG cylinders. Expressing serious concern over the unauthorized manufacturing and selling of substandard cylinders, the CM has instructed the deputy commissioners to take immediate and indiscriminate action against those involved in these illegal activities. He emphasized that the administration should prevent the illicit manufacturing and sale of substandard cylinders in their respective districts and initiate legal action against unauthorized LPG dealers. To support these efforts, OGRA (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority) has granted powers to deputy and assistant commissioners to take action against individuals involved in the production and sale of unauthorized LPG cylinders. This province-wide crackdown aims to ensure the safety and well-being of the public by eliminating the use of non-standard and potentially hazardous LPG cylinders.
