GUJRAT: An Italian-Pakistani woman was reportedly murdered on Tuesday by her father, brother and uncle for honour in West Mangowal area of District Gujrat.
The police said that the woman’s family had termed their daughter’s death as an accident and had buried the body.
District Police Officer (DPO) Gujrat initiated an investigation on claims of media reports, stating that the lady had been murdered.
According to the police, the father wanted to marry her daughter off in a relative’s family, but the girl wanted to marry someone based in Italy.
The police registered a case against the suspects, who are yet to be arrested.
Previously, honour killing of a British National had surfaced as a high-profile case in July 2016. The woman’s husband had claimed that his wife had been murdered by her family for honour.
