The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust (SKMT) organised a Social Responsibility Awards ceremony in Karachi, recognising 49 organisations for their generous contributions in 2024. Excellence Awards were presented to four organisations for their outstanding support. The awardees, representing diverse sectors such as telecommunications, banking, information technology, automobile manufacturers, as well as philanthropic foundations demonstrated a powerful commitment to social good across multiple industries.
Dr Faisal Sultan, CEO of SKMT, expressed gratitude for the unwavering commitment of donors, stating, “Helping the underprivileged, especially those you may never meet, reflects a beautiful, compassionate aspect of our society.” He praised the strong representation of women in leadership roles among the honoured organisations and thanked all representatives on behalf of the patients whose lives have been touched by their support. Dr. Sultan also urged Karachi’s philanthropic community to rally behind SKMT’s third and largest hospital, set to open in the city in 2026.
Dr Aasim Yusuf, Chief Medical Officer of SKMT, highlighted the organisation’s 30-year legacy, noting that SKMT has spent over Rs. 100 billion in treating underprivileged cancer patients. He said that more than 75% of patients at Shaukat Khanum facilities receive financially supported care annually.
