ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar strongly rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan’s statement that levelled serious allegations against Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) chairman.
FBR issued a statement on Wednesday in which Dar termed the allegations as totally false and fabricated and said that the board’s chairman was known for his integrity and commitment to honesty.
Dar said that the PTI chief tried to tarnish the image of an officer – who retains flawless integrity – without any evidence. He further said that the baseless allegations could only demoralise FBR’s employees and affect efficiency of the organisation.
The minister expressed full confidence in FBR’s leadership and said that before levelling groundless allegations, Imran Khan should consider the statements’ adverse impacts – not only on the individual’s reputation but on national institutions as well.
